LGT response to the Covid-19 outbreak

LGT response plan to the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak

In response to the current Covid-19 outbreak, our office is currently closed until further notice. We are committed to supporting the Gypsy and Traveller community at this difficult time. We will continue working remotely but have made changes to the delivery of our services as outlined below.

We recognise both the physical and mental health impact the virus will have on Gypsy and Traveller communities. Many will have increased vulnerability due to their poor physical and mental health.  The close-knit nature of the community will mean that the potential for the virus to spread in the community is high. There are additional challenges to self-isolation when living in caravans on sites, in insecure accommodation and especially those facing eviction on the roadside.

We are committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our staff, as well as providing support to the most vulnerable in the community at this time.

Changes to our work

We have stopped all outreach activities and external meetings until further notice, but we will continue to work remotely where we can. Our work directly with the community will be carried out over the phone and video calls.

Our services will continue as follows:

  • Accommodation Advice Service – all Friday appointments will be done over the phone. To book an appointment ring as usual on Wednesdays from 10am-11am. Contact: Warren Lee on 07494 969356

  • Other advice and support – Contact: Geraldine Lindsay on 07956450916 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
  •

    • Bright Futures – our work with young people will continue over the phone on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Contact: Liza Dodds on 07 88 77 646 82
