We are looking for two members of the Gypsy, Traveller or Showmen communities to join us on our project in order to undertake skills training to document and map Traveller histories across London, and to do community outreach.

Job Purpose
The posts offer an opportunity to members of London’s Traveller communities to develop new transferable skills through training and practical experience.
•To undertake skills training and practise research skills in community-based oral history, the use of archives, film and photography, project planning, design and presentation.
•To conduct outreach with Traveller communities in London in sites and in housing, and to encourage participation in the project: Putting Gypsies, Travellers and Showpeople on the Map of London- Mapping Traveller Histories.
Role and responsibilities
•Take part in training sessions for research methods, oral history collection and mapping.
•Carry out community outreach with Travellers on sites, camps and in housing and encourage participation in the Mapping Traveller Histories project.
•Carry out interviews using audio or video recording.
•Collect and organise photos, newspaper articles, records etc from community members, libraries and other sources
•Develop skills in online mapping
•Help organising community events and exhibitions.

•Able to engage with people and build positive relationships
•Able to bring a creative approach to research and community engagement
•Good literacy and basic computer skills
•Able to work independently and as part of a team
•Willing to connect and work with Traveller communities in London to support their involvement in the mapping project
